FRUIT & VEGIES
The season’s march It’s the time of the year to get into warming
soups, slow cooked meals and earthy grounding vegetables and grains. Greens
are plentiful: stock up on silverbeet and bok choy, vibrant carrots,
delicate leeks, silverbeet, beetroots and potatoes. We’ve said goodbye
to summer’s stone fruits and welcomed back apples. Pears and rhubarb
are right in season too.
Organic Gertrude has also started to receive some vegetables – mostly
our greens and
carrots (as well as our bacon and ham) directly from Fernleigh farm.
The advantage
of dealing direct with growers is the food reaches you sooner. It’s that
extra bit fresher.
